Who We Are
We are a second generation family owned and operated business. The Train Shack was started by our father, Gary Keck, who had a great passion for toy trains as a child. When he had kids of his own, he re-discovered his interest in trains. He started selling trains as a hobby at the local train club and brought us along to give him a hand. As he gained more customers over the years, he was able to turn his part time hobby into a full time business. With his family and friends helping him along the way, he was able to open his first brick and motor store in 1985, that resembled a shack -hence the name. A few years later, he outgrew the small space and was able to move The Train Shack to a larger location where it still resides today.
After Dad retired, we took over the day to day operation of the store, and expanded the business to include custom layout building. We have always tried to make customer service a top priority, as Dad would have wanted us to do. Throughout the years, we have been fortunate to have met many great customers who we consider to be part of the ever expanding Train Shack family, which now includes second and even third generation train fans. We hope that you'll stop by to check out our store and let our friendly, knowledgeable staff help you with all of your model railroad needs
